Mackie Conscious Hits The World With A New Song!

Press Release From Mackie Conscious - March 20, 2026

"Reggae Music Is Alive" is the title of the new song released by entertainer Mackie Conscious, who is so consistent with the content of his songs. His aim is always to hold his mentor Bob Marley in high esteem, even though he is dead. Mackie Conscious, a musician who plays multiple instruments, has been making songs using the template of Bob Marley, songs of substance to last a lifetime through all generations.

In the year 1997, Mr Conscious scored with his first hit song, "What If," which brought him to prominence both locally and internationally, doing many major reggae shows. Mackie never changed his stance.

He did songs like "Leave the Crumbs Alone," "Can’t Be A King And No Royal," "Brighter Day (featuring Luciano)," "Follow Your Dreams," "Rebel," and "I’m Alive," just to name a few.

He has two albums to his credit, "What If" and "Leave The Crumbs Alone," and he also produced two various artists' albums and is putting together songs for a new album and other singles produced by an international producer to be released in 2026.

Bob Marley, who died in 1981, is still considered worldwide as the King of Reggae and has been on the top ten reggae charts up to now and is still hitting the billboard.

This new song states that Jamaica is more than the black, green, and gold; it’s a land that’s a true gold mine because of reggae music, which is from the heart to lift the spirit high and free your mind. It says Bob and Bolt keep the world a-shout.

In the song, he honoured some of our top reggae giants who passed, like Bunny Wailer, Peter Tosh, Dennis Brown, Gregory Isaacs, and Jimmy Cliff, who are just a tip of what we have. He then celebrates those who are still here holding the reggae flag high beside the King, who is no longer alive, but his music is very much alive beyond every other global entertainer/artist who has passed and been forgotten.

Reimagining Jamaica's Economic Future

Contributed By Michael Spence

It's time for Jamaica to break free from the shackles of a Motorized Pyramid Scheme Economic Model (MPSEM) and transition towards a Real Productive Economic Model. This new approach prioritizes employment, consumption, import substitution, and exports, while reducing non-essential imports like luxury vehicles and cosmetics.

Key strategies include:

  1. Boosting employment and consumption
  2. Encouraging import substitution and exports
  3. Reducing non-essential imports
  4. Abolishing direct income taxes, with incentives for all workers and businesses (similar to those offered to hotels and agriculture)
  5. Eliminating specialized tariffs for select individuals and businesses
  6. Creating a level playing field for all Jamaicans

Additionally, the focus should shift from new taxes and borrowings to production and development. The National Housing Trust (NHT) model needs reform, as it resembles a pyramid scheme, favouring only a few contributors.

Let's work together to build a more equitable and productive Jamaica.

Challenges of Homosexuality - The Discussion Continues

A created picture.

The comment of the Prime Minister in his budget speech, "Man is man and woman is woman," has sparked a debate across the island.

First, let me tell you some stories. This couple has been married for about twenty years, and the wife had a friend who visited the home frequently. The husband thought nothing of it. He noticed, however, that this friend was very attentive to his wife, especially when the wife was sick.

One day he went home and found his wife and her female friend having the time of their life in the bedroom. He was devastated.

In another case, I went to an office to deal with a utility problem. The female customer service agent was not very helpful, and she was very cold to me.

The security guard who was observing apparently did not appreciate the way I was treated, so he offered to assist me. I told him, "I thought the customer service lady would enjoy helping a man."

The security guard replied, "These ladies don’t relate to men very well."

I told him that we have to be careful about whom we choose as our spouse. I noticed the immediate change in his attitude and sensed that something was wrong. It is clear that he had more to say, but the office was not the appropriate place to do so. I asked for his telephone number, and I told him I would call him later.

I called him later in the afternoon, and of course, we started talking about women. I said to him, “Are you married?”

I felt the tension. I knew he had more to say, and he wanted to get it off his chest. After a short pause, he said, “Yes.”

We started talking about his wife and their relationship. He told me she had been spending more time with a female friend on the Avenue.

I said to him, "Do you think she is a lesbian?" I don’t remember him answering, but I know he was crying. They were just starting their life together and had made the first payment on their house.

I said to him, "Don't worry about that money. "Find a lawyer now and plan an exit strategy. " I lost contact with him, and I have always wondered how he got out of the dilemma.

These days, you will find many people are not interested in the opposite sex, but they value the image of being married. The spouse is probably there to provide economic security, so they hold on to that spouse for life.

It is very important to know and be sure of your spouse’s sexuality before you get involved. They will put on an act to catch you, and soon after, the abuse starts. You will find the friend starts to have more say than you. They become defensive of that friend, and after a short while, the fake emotions will fade.

Don’t wait until things deteriorate. Get out of the situation faster than how Usain Bolt gets out of the starting block. You might need to see a professional counsellor or a psychiatrist after. You can end up going through a period of depression and embarrassment, and this could be serious.

Hopefully, you come from a closely knit family that will see the challenge long before you do, and they will help you to navigate your way out of the mess. Remember that when you have these challenges, don’t carry the burden alone. This is the time when you need family support.

Homosexuality The Big Issue!

Created pictures.

Recently, I was talking to a very ambitious lady. She knows how to tun har han' mek fashin. The discussion moved from one thing to another. I asked her what her boyfriend would say if he saw me talking to her for so long.

She said to me, "Him find somebody else long time."

I then said to her, You and di girlfriend get along?". I asked her that question because I know she was still in touch with her former boyfriend.

She then said to me, "Is a man 'im live wid."

Mi a tell yu, mi heart drop outa mi mout' same time. I wondered to myself, "Why would he leave such a beautiful and ambitious lady for a man. What does the man have to offer him?"

If I were not retired, I could put eena case fi miself. Wha yu say?

There are quite a few homosexual stories that people have related to me, and they are embarrassed to do anything about it. I had a listener calling me off air in tears, telling me how his stepbrother had raped him.

There is this lady who got married to a homosexual, and she was not aware of his sexual preference. In no time, he was in bed with her three sons. One of the sons eventually committed suicide, while another is now mentally unstable. This abuser is someone whom the nation knew. The wife was too embarrassed to break up the marriage.

There are more stories I could tell you, but this blog would be too long.

This morning, I got a photocopy of an article with the headline 'LGBTQ groups take issue with PM for making the statement, "Man is a man, woman is a woman." That long budget presentation, the only point of substance the LGBTQ group could find to comment on, is that statement. I did not hear when the PM made the statement.

Guys, find some time to put out releases about homosexuals who, it is alleged, have been killed by their partners. Did they condemn the killing of 'The King' of them all? Did they condemn the horrible killing of the university lecturer and organist for the UWI chapel?

Members of the LGBTQ community have victimized others. They have refused to accept a member into an organization and the person knows it is because he is not one of their supporters. Homosexuals have even caused people to lose their jobs. Tell members of the community to stop using their sexuality to achieve their objectives.

You cannot force the PM or any Jamaican not to believe that man is man and woman is woman.

Keep your business to your bedroom. I am not aware of the state or anyone interfering with you. You are free to do what you want to do behind closed doors. I have not heard of police officers breaking down someone's door to catch them in the act.

There is one right, I believe all homosexuals should have, and that is the right to have a child. I cannot help you with that one. You would need to talk to God about that, right?

Note that I don't believe one should be discriminated against, bullied, or not given an opportunity because one is a homosexual. Note also that when I use the word 'homosexual,' I am referring to men and women.

Remember that once upon a time it was OK to be gay, and being funny is no longer funny. It's a changing world.

The country and it's leaders have made their choice.

PM Says HEART/NSTA To Eliminate Additional Tuition Fees

JIS Press Release, March 19 (JIS):

Prime Minister Andrew Holness.

The Government will be eliminating additional tuition fees at the HEART/NSTA Trust in an effort to broaden access to skills training.

Prime Minister, Dr. the Most Hon. Andrew Holness, has announced that beginning in fiscal year 2026/27, fees for all programmes up to Level Five will be removed.

He made the announcement during his contribution to the 2026/27 Budget Debate in the House of Representatives on Thursday (March 19).

“I was proud to bring the HEART/NSTA Trust closer to [late former] Prime Minister, [the Most Hon. Edward] Seaga’s vision, when we eliminated tuition fees up to Level Four. Since then, HEART’s doors have been open to more than half a million young and not-so-young men and women islandwide,” Dr. Holness said.

He explained that the Government’s mission to expand access to opportunity through skills training is not yet complete.

“I shall now complete that mission. Note that this is a bachelor’s degree. HEART will become free from Level One to Level Five for those who need it most, because my Administration understands how important it is to continuously improve access to skills training and give every Jamaican a clear pathway to prosperity,” the Prime Minister stated.

Meanwhile, Dr. Holness noted that the National Reconstruction and Resilience Authority (NaRRA) will require thousands of skilled tradespeople, including carpenters, electricians, plumbers, masons, and roofers, highlighting the importance of building the capacity to train them rapidly and at scale.

“The HEART/NSTA Trust will train construction-related tradespersons who can assist in the rebuilding and resilience initiatives as well as propelling the expansion of various sectors,” he pointed out.

The Government will also introduce a Contractor Incubator Programme, which will place selected graduates from HEART and the University of Technology (UTech) Jamaica on a structured developmental pathway.

Participants will benefit from technical assistance, advanced training, and concessional financing through the Development Bank of Jamaica (DBJ), enabling them to acquire equipment and scale their operations.

“The intent is to have Jamaicans gain experience on high-value public infrastructure projects and transition faster into sustainable employment and enterprise,” Dr. Holness said.

Editor's Note
Let's hope they get more people who are not so young, who are mature and will take the programme seriously. Students who do not perform and do not comply with the rules of the institutions should be removed from the programme.

This is a great opportunity, especially for those who have been laid off from their jobs and they need to equip themselves for other jobs.

We also definitely need to train more doctors and medical specialists.
