Email from a visitor to the island:
Greetings Mr. Derby:
I am writing you to provide you with additional information
since I share my initial concern about Hampton Road. I was fortunate to visits
Jamaica a week ago and I took the liberty to further investigate the status of
the project of fixing Hampton Road (the road that lead to Mandeville). I was
present at the right place and the right time at which time I met the Counselor
for the District, Ms. Claudia Morant-Baker, JLP representative. I shared my
concerns with her regarding the poor condition of the road and the danger it
poses for the citizens. Ms. Clauida Morant –Baker stated that she listens to
your program and have a lot of respect for what you have done and continue to
do for the community.
She was very polite and was interested in the article of
concern. The counselor and I discussed the current developments and she want us
to know that she has been listening to the public and her government has
allocated 19 million dollars to fix the road most of all she is working in
alliance with the National Water Authority. They will fix the road from the
entrance to the Pumping Station. Additionally, she reported that 1.7 million
was also allocated to patch the road going further up to the main train station
which is the district of Broad Leaf. Ms. Morant- Baker was very happy to know
that people are speaking up through the media and making their voices heard.
I was very impressed with her willingness to take criticism
and also constructive advice. Ms. Claudia Morant-Baker also wants the public to
know that she is willing to continue to dialogue with her constituents
regarding the improvements that are needed in the community. She states she is
not concerned so much about party affiliation instead her focus is to get the
work done. I want to thank you for your assistance in blogging this vital concern
and I must assure you that your input has made a big difference in the
resolution and furthering the restoration of this community project. The
citizens of Hampton Road Porus P.O. Manchester want to say thanks a million.
The pics enclosed show the current condition of the road and
water supply. In a few months I assume things will look much different once the
project is embarking upon and completed. I hope I will also have pics of the
finish project to display. Again, thank you for your service and civic duty. I
also promise to keep in touch with Ms. Claudia Morant-Baker as she works to do
more for her constituents. I did not had an opportunity to speak to or get in
touch with the Mr. Michael Stewart MP (PNP) but I am confident that he is aware
of all of the recent development and progress.
The work never stops and so we continue to advocate and
speak up for those who can’t and make our voices heard as patriot and for love
of country. Jamaica we love!

Good afternoon,thank you for talking to me Mr O'Gilvie, it was an honour to meet you and most all for setting the records straight that as leaders, such a councillor,we are given limited resources and there are so much that needs out there, to uplift the lives of the residence we pledge to serve without fear or favour.
Continue to lobby and intervene on the behalf of individuals who needs to be.
