The Jamaica Council of Churches and other groups have been calling on one man, Mr. Wright to resign but I would say to them, that they all should resign if you fail to call on other leaders to resign also. Jeanette Calder, Rev. Newton Dixon, Dr. Trevor Munro, I don't believe you got it Right this time or Right at anytime. Some of the leaders in these groups need to take a good look at themselves because if we should open some of their cupboards, we might be shocked to know what we would find.

I am quite aware of the head of one church who was asked by a media house to give answers about an institution which he is responsible for. I am yet to see an acceptable response from the gentleman. Yet the head of this church is calling for someone else's head - hypocrite.
The female acting head of a government entity was treated like a dog sometime last year. She found herself locked out of an event which was organized by the organization which she was acting head for! Where were all the noise makers then? They turned a blind eye to this and other things. Yes we might have Mr. Wright but we hug up many Wrongs.
There are question marks over other parliamentarians about how they treat their spouses and other persons. Some of them are on television and talking about how we treat our women. I would use one word to describe them again - HYPOCRITES!!!
I know that church leaders, leaders in the private sector, persons in media, are aware of some of the corruptions taking place in this country. They know some of the individuals who should be held accountable, They get and read the auditor generals reports and you will get general talk from some of these leaders but no one is identifying anyone and calling on them to resign.
Is it because Mr. Wright is a political lightweight why he is the right man to target? I do know that the head of the Council of Churches is aware of other persons who have committed certain things which ought to make them ineligible to hold public office and he needs to deal with such matters also. The Jamaica Council of Churches and other organizations must not be selective about who they call on to resign. All persons who are not fit to hold public office should be asked to resigned and pack their bags and go.

We have had many viral videos going around, but I noticed a very curious situation and that is we seem to get very excited if something happens to a beautiful woman or if a woman has been abused. All of a sudden gender violence is the hit song and it goes well with politics.
Violence is a major problem in Jamaica. We murder over 1200 persons per year for possible the last three decades. I don't think the voices from some quarters have been so strong as it is in the case of a video showing a male and a female in an altercation.
Dr. Trevor Munro National Executive Director NIA |
We are not putting the same emphasis on other types of crime and specifically corruption. We know the MPs who are corrupt and there is no outcry for them to resign now! I believe that we need to educate persons about abuse and ensure that there are systems in place to protect them. If persons want to accept abuse when they don't have to, then the society has no right to dictate how such persons should relate to one another. Minors are different because the state has a responsibility to protect minors.
Since both alleged persons in that famous video are not willing to report the matter and to give evidence, then we should check to see if there were any witness to this disorderly conduct of the couple in the video. The joke is, where are the laws to deal with disorderly conduct, impeachment and removal of an elected official who display such behaviour? As a matter of fact, if my memory serves me right, an MP can serve time in prison and still represents the people.
It is my opinion that as a society, we worship evil persons among us. There is a murderer in prison and many radio presenters mention him very often and big him up on his birthday. The last time he was ill and went to the hospital it was big news.
An ex-convict came back to Jamaica and he is now practicing law and the next thing you know he might sit on the bench. An ex-convict came came back also and won the National Festival Song Competition in 2020. If there was no covid-19 he might have been asked to represent the country. There is far more but let me kibba mi mout. This country is rotting to the core and there are too many hypocrites all over the place. Do not let me start on the leadership of some churches. Some a dem a di biggest hypocrites. We must all start from being honest with ourselves and others and then love others. We are not looking good these days when it comes to being honest with one another and loving one another.
The Right thing to do is to move the discussion to the laws which must be put in place to ensure a higher standard of behaviour especially from elected officials and our public servants. We will lynch one man today and believe we have the right Mr. Wright, but if the system continues as it is, then we might get Mr. Right but the system will still be wrong.
If we are going to discuss violence and the solutions please let us discuss it. Violence can be categorized by those who want to use different strategies to fight different types of violence but to you and I, violence is violence. It is clear that as a nation we have been unable for a very long time to cauterize this problem of crime. Calling for an head may satisfy some of the hurt that some of us are feeling having suffered from abuse, but it will not solve the endemic crime problem we are not facing in Jamaica.
We are indeed a nation of hypocrites and we continue to prove this point as we try to sacrifice an MP for all the wrongs that some of us have committed. We know the struggle some women go through to achieve success in the corporate world and even to get on boards. What are we doing about that.
Let no one fool you, more men are being murdered than women in Jamaica but I am more concerned that more persons are being murdered. Men and boys are also being abused but who cares? Probably if our boys were not so marginalized and they were being brought up properly then not only would we have less gender violence but we would have less violence generally. It is time we learn to manage this little 2 bi 2 country properly and if we can't then probably we need to find a colonial power to take charge of us. Independence has not worked well for us it seems. Let's get it Right because it is not just about Mr. Wright.

Do we allow all this to continue in whatever sphere or do we start to make suggestions to clean up by speaking out. Maybe if everyone abused- verbally and physically begin to speak out then we will see a different nation of hyprocrites
Aka "All violence matters "? It does , but they're not going to get rid of specialized violence concerns anytime soon anymore than they will Black Lives Matter which they shouldn't, right or wrong ? Artiste Seh "Due to political fiction [/friction? ] man and man gone Inna segregation ". All violence matters like all just laws Matter , but there is a traffic court , family court , Supreme court and the existence of one does not eliminate the need for the other. Mr Wright has paid some pentalties and penalties on the other sides matter too , " due to Political friction " . The biggest political footballs of crime and covid-19 remain issues to be tackled
This selective outrage is ridiculous. It's like trying to loose fat from your belly whilst the rest of the body is out of alignment.
Nice piece Vernon
We need to empower those who afraid to speak out.
I hope you have shared it with a number of persons?
