Hurricane Season
The hurricane season is just around the corner and many trees are already too tall. It is very important for you to contact the JPS if you have a tree on your property that needs to be cut back and the tree is near to power lines. If the tree is in the public space then contact JPS and they will cut back those trees. If the tree is on your property, then do not attempt to cut back that tree until JPS arrives and you are sure that the power in the area has been cut off.
It is also mango season and sometimes we are tempted to climb the mango trees to get that sweet mango. This is one time when what sweet you could sour you! This year already I believe three persons have lost their lives after coming into contact with JPS lines.
Tall Trees on Norway Terrace In Kingston
I have just received a report of very tall trees on the National Water Commission lands on Norway Terrace which poses a treat not only because the trees are almost touching the power lines but the hurricane season is just around the corner. This is close to Manor Park in Kingston. I will be contacting the NWC to encourage them to cut back these trees.
Since I am on the topic of electricity also, it is very important for you to have your electrician check to ensure that the wires which lead from you home/company to JPS' pole is in good condition. Sometimes over time the wires deteriorate and this can cause power challenges which could end up damaging your electrical equipment. If your electrician says that the wires are in a bad state then you must have JPS fix it immediately.
