News Flash - Minister Robert Montague Resigns

Former Minister Robert Montague

I just got a message stating that Minister Robert Montague has resigned as Minister without Portfolio in the Ministry of Economic Growth and Job Creation. Mr. Montague has been in charge of various ministries over the years and his political career has been beset with challenges at some of these ministries.

The minister can be credited for getting the transport operators to hold strain on fare increase for many years, and consumers have benefitted from this.. Mr. Montague is known for his sense of humour and the ability to deal with people at all levels.  He is also Chairman of the Jamaica Labour Party.

No details have been given for the resignation except to say that he has handed his resignation a short while ago, because there are personal matters that he has to deal with. He went on to say that he needs the time and space to treat with these matters. The former Minister in his message says that he has engaged the services of a law firm and he is being guided by his lawyers. He concluded his message by saying that he is in good spirits and also that he took time out to think this matter through.

The recent Integrity Commission's report seems to have precipitated the Minister's resignation. It seems that the former minister could be set to do legal battle with entities and persons who he feels has done him wrong. Interesting days are ahead.

  1. Based on the report from the Integrity Commission, he has no option but to resign.
He gave gun license to questionable characters when he was at the Ministry of social security.
