SpotOn Making A Difference In Our Lives With Informative Features

SpotOn is the new programme on Riddim FM which has started to make big waves in Jamaica and in the diaspora. SpotOn is hosted by Vernon Derby, who  is always coming up with creative ideas for radio. SpotOn comes on from Monday to Friday, from 10 am to 12:45 pm, and the news follows after. Many years ago he started to have market vendors giving the prices of food items on radio and this has caught on nationally. He was also the first broadcaster to have the US Consular Officers on a radio programme on a monthly basis. It is probably a first also in radio that he has been inviting members of parliament to come on air to report what is happening in their constituencies and also io answer questions from their constituents.

Vernon felt that as a people we should be reminded of our National Symbols, the National Pledge and our National Anthem. He now plays the national anthem at midday during his programme. Sometimes he even reads the National Pledge. Vernon has also introduced Meditation after Marketing Manager Beverly Davies made that suggestion to him.. Rev. Newton Dixon has done a few Meditations already and other leaders in the church will be asked to do the meditation after the playing of the National Anthem.

He has also introduced a new feature called 'You Shoulda Know Dat' and in that short feature, he has professionals giving bits of information to his listeners. Contributors so far to Yu Shoulda Know Dat are Vivian Crawford and The Hon. Errol Morrison.
