Crime Crippling Jamaica - What Next?

Picture of security guard citizens reported that he was killed

Last night I got the news that a security guard was killed by criminals in Chudleigh in Manchester. It is clear that no area is now immune from the high level of crime in Jamaica.

The government seems to be unable to deal with the crisis and it is clear to me that citizens now have a right to protect themselves if the state cannot protect them.

I have said before that the government should set up a Reserve Police Force made up of well trained and armed members of volunteers. Each district or town needs to have a group of citizens  with its own commander. They would provide the type of service provided by district constables.

This group would concentrate on prevention of local crimes such as domestic violence and praedial larceny. They would also provide administrative support at police stations and therefore police officers would have more time to deal with investigating and solving serious crimes. These volunteers would live in their communities and they would work closely with communities to maintain law and order.

Note:

I  rely heavily on my community reporters to give me information because it is not easy to get information from other sources. So far, the information given to me in most cases is very accurate.

Thanks to those who assist in editing the reports.
