Last year in a broadcast on CVM Television to the nation just before the start of the New Year, I made a passionate plea to our leaders to act decisively and deal with challenge of crime. The year 2022 is now coming to an end and the level of crime and specifically murders continue unabated. The polls have showed that the nation's confidence in the Minister of Nation Security and the Commissioner of police is at an all time low.
Crime is a burden on the health system and it is also a burden on our economy. It is time the nation rise up and demand that short term and long term measures be put in place to deal with this cancer which is eating away at the heart of the country.

ReplyDeleteIt is past due. If crime is a disease or monster, why can't we use the same effort and resources used to fight the Corona Virus? It is a subject that is being danced around without actually addressing it. The most recent call asked citizens to play a bigger role in crime fighting but citizens have lost their lives for doing same. Why? Because dirty police told the cooperated with badmen to ensure the case went no further. It's a gamble as the system is in need of a scrub. Corruption is rampant. The safety of the citizens must be ensured to secure their cooperation. The power is in the people's hands though. They gotta demand the change they want to see and ensure the pressure is kept at its maximum until they get the changes they desire.
