Commissioner Stewart Beckford is not one who seeks out the media to build his brand but has knowledge of his work and the way he projects himself he is a confident leader who seems to be of persuasive type rather than dictatorial type of leader.
He is a remarkable person, who at twenty-two years old, had no CXC subjects when he joined the Jamaica Fire Brigade Service, Today that so-called unqualified youngster is an honours graduate from the University of the West Indies, and he is also a lawyer.
This is a story of a man who was given the opportunity by the Fire Brigade Service to prove himself, and he has certainly blazed a trail of fire, burning tracks for others to follow and for others to learn. Let's give other Jamaicans a chance to blaze their own train and our country will continue to be a trailblazer.
