I just got a report from a reputable person about paying tolls on our highways. Drivers are being extorted when they do not have sufficient JAD to pay toll fees. My reporter states that the driver had to use his US currency to pay the toll fee. He was given the exchange rate of USD1 to JAD1!
The Authority needs to give a definitive statement on how this situation should be dealt with when a driver does not have sufficient Jamaican dollars to use. What alternative forms of payment are allowed if a driver does not have enough cash. If foreign currency is used to pay the toll fee, what exchange rate will be used for the transaction?
Can you imagine how much money can be made from the tourists?
Share this post with other drivers who use the highways so that I can get their feedback.

Lord have mercy any way u go macka juck u . In Jamaica land we love .Only hope the drivers them talk up the things and don't wait until it gets worse.
So rue wow👹
Can’t believe this
This is crazy. Yet another example of poor governance. Foreigners & unfair business operaters should not be able fleece Jamaicans.
Really now
Let us be careful of some of these postings that are circulating.
There are many stores in Jamaica that buy the USA $ for way less that what is advertised. I don't think that there's a scam at the Tool, one will not get the advertising rate at these places. Let us be Fair.
There is no need to speculate. I got the report from a reputable person who holds a senior position in the public service. I have no reason to doubt the veracity of this report. Those who are in charge need to review the current system.
The rate is not USD1 to JAD1. It is approximate JAD153 to USD1. That is a massive difference. Please don't give the impression that as it relates to this report that I got, ano nutten.
My mom always say, if you can’t say good no say bad. This is heresy. If reputable source can’t come forward then It’s not good to spread rumors. Maybe the best thing is to have some sort of pass that one can buy to drive here and there and the visitors should know this upfront from their travel agency or when they get off the plane at custom or better yet if the country could move up to electronic EZ pass - still would have to down load - that would be great. Let’s try to mix the positive with the negative as some people only look for negative things to say and then act like Jamdown is the worse out there.
You still have to understand this is Jamaica and anywhere lope hole no da, they will try and make one. And Grandma's all ways say. If it no go so. It go near so. Our authorities need to put the right types of regulations in place, so everyone can benefit in an honest way.
I am concerned that there are persons in the country who will do anything to protect what is wrong. It means therefore that those who stand for good must be more united. There is a strong and evil force out there that is fighting what is good. Evil cannot overcome good. Senior members of the security force are aware of this problem highlighted in this story, but it is not an easy one to deal with.
The reputable source came forward. The reputable source took action. The information was shared to improve awareness among Jamaicans and to let the culprits know that people are aware of what is happening.. How does police get information? They get it when they hear from citizens who want to help. Would you call that useless hearsay?? I get information from all over. From government officials, the police, heads of organizations and others. This information is shared with those who can act. You would have noticed that I first brought the situation at the Corwall Regional Hospital and Minister Tufton has responded. I also highlighted the low keyed celebration of Marcus Garvey's birthday and there was a response. This is what makes our democracy tries.
