SOMETHING IS SERIOUSLY WRONG WITH JAMAICA'S FINANCIAL SYSTEM

It's time we speak out forcefully against this worsening financial carelessness! We, the seniors and the voiceless, can't bear these burdens on our own in silence. We must ask ourselves, is this a problem specific to us, or does it reflect the widespread chaos engulfing our nation? I must ask again, WHO IS IN CHARGE?

Let me share my troubling experiences and concerns:

I sent a cheque to cover my health insurance at the end of August. When I returned from Cuba, I checked my account, and to my shock, the deduction had NOT gone through. I contacted the agency, and they told me the cheque had been received but was just sitting in their post-dated file and the clerk had overlooked it in error. I was far from silent about this issue.

But the frustration didn't stop there. I sent cheques to another Life insurance agency for my policies before my vacation, thinking all was well. But upon my return, I discovered they had not honoured the dates on my cheques. The cheque for September was deposited, then returned, and eventually re-deposited with added bank charges. What's baffling is that they never bothered to contact me about their mistake.

To make matters worse, I received conflicting messages from different agents. One claimed I was behind by one month, another said I owed two months, and a third even denied being my agent until she confirmed I was paid up to September when I raised my voice. It's like something out of a bad movie.

Adding to the chaos, Paymaster has suddenly stopped accepting cheque payments with little notice. It makes you question… if we're moving towards a cashless society, why print all these new banknotes?

Who is truly in charge while our leaders seem more interested in questionable financial dealings? It won't be long before they try to silence ME, just as they have tried on Facebook.

We the senior citizens cannot bear these burdens alone or in silence any longer. It's time for accountability, and we must demand nothing less from those in charge..if there is anyone in charge.

Banknotes are not the same as cheques...more and more institutions are discontinuing the acceptance of cheques...I agree that based on your story, there are issues but it's not the same as the country descending into chaos...
