INCREASED RAINFALL WEDNESDAY THROUGH TO SATURDAY

Press Release from the Meteorological Service, Jamaica Tuesday, November 14, 1700 EST.:

A broad surface Trough across the southwestern Caribbean is currently producing a large area of showers and thunderstorms across the western Caribbean. The environmental conditions are becoming conducive for the development of this system, and there is the potential for the formation of a Tropical depression during the latter part of this week. This is likely to threaten Jamaica with increased rainfall activity starting on Wednesday evening.

The forecast is for cloudy conditions with widespread showers and thunderstorms, which could be heavy at times with occasional gusty winds, to affect most parishes, especially central and eastern parishes starting as early as Wednesday night and continuing through to Saturday morning.

Some models are projecting the development of a Tropical Depression with a forecast movement toward the northeast. Should this occur, it is likely that this would increase the chance of impact over Jamaica late Thursday and through Friday.

Fishers and other marine interests should extreme exercise caution, especially across the south coast, as sea conditions will deteriorate in the vicinity of showers and thunderstorms.

The Meteorological Service will continue to monitor this system.
