NWC's WE CARE CHARITY INITIATIVE - GIFTS FLOWING FOR 2024

The Following is a Release from the National Water Commission - 2024/01/30:

The joy of giving flowed earnestly for the start of 2024, as several Children’s and Health Institutions were beneficiaries of donated items from the Staff of the National Water Commission, under its recently launched We Care Charity Initiative.

Four such Institutions were selected across the Eastern and Corporate Divisions of the Commission.  The donated items were a diverse mix based on needs assessment carried out and were a combination of toiletries, foods, personal care items, toys, books, gift vouchers and clothing.    Additionally, the National Water Commission complimented the Staff by matching with a Fifty Thousand Dollars ($50,000.00) cash contribution to each institution.

Recipient Institutions are:

  • Jamaica National Children’s Home,
  • Princess Margaret Hospital – Children’s Ward,
  • The Edge Hill School of Special Education,
  • The Wortley Home for Girls.

The Management and Staff of the Institutions expressed their heartfelt gratitude and signalled that the donated items could not have come at a better time.

Yearly, the various departments of the water company singularly donate to charitable organizations of their choice.   However, in December the Company decided to have a soft launch of its We Care Charity Initiative, bringing the gift of giving under one umbrella.  Staff members still had the option to select their charity of choice and responded exuberantly to the call to participate, with healthy competitiveness to outdo each other.  With this positive success, the Utility will be seeking to broaden its We Care Initiative as its main driver for its corporate responsibility efforts.
