Time To Put Back Law and Order In The Society

This is the picture of the taxi man the police was trying to locate. It is alleged that he threw a stone into a JUTC bus damaging it.

On conviction, this taxi driver should spend six months washing and cleaning JUTC buses, and attend an institution for six months. This institution would be responsible for re-socializing him.

He should cover all costs for repairing the damage to the bus and any other related costs, such as inconvenience to passengers. He should be responsible for all rehabilitation costs.

His licence should be cancelled for at least one year after and he would be required to be retrained by a licenced driving instructor. This man should undergo psychological testing to ascertain if he is a fit and proper person to drive a public vehicle.

Let me have your comments supporting some or all of these suggestions as we call on the authorities to put back law and order in Jamaica. Your voice and support can make a difference. It will be interesting to see how much support this post gets! Show your support by sharing this post.

Taxis are a huge issue in our society

He can only be resocialized if he was initially socialized in the first place! One could argue that socialization initially failed given that he appears to think that damaging his own proprty is a wise idea. Government's property is afterall actually the people's property.

Such an incident highlights the challenges we face as a society. We are in a dangerously precarious position, morals are a thing of the past, family structure almost non-existent, good manners and a sense of responsibility are hanging on by a thread and discipline and self control are nowhere to be found.
Anger, impatience and crass behavior is the order of the day. This is evident every day, everywhere! I agree with Mr. Derby 100% however we need to make an all round concerted effort, in our schools, have workshops in our churches, community centres, workplaces, transport authority etc.
For example, training sessions could be compulsory for transport personnel, every 6 months get certified in the varied aspects of Customer Service and these 1 month courses must be completed for licence renewal.
We have to start somewhere.

He should be charged for multiple attempted murder.

Attack against the people of Jamaica and the malicious destruction of their property.

A terrorist act against the people of Jamaica.

This should demonstrably attract a harsh penalty similar to shooting at people or illegal use or possession of a firearm 15 years.

Courtesy of the Jamaican state whom it will cost at least $US10,000 per year in His Majesty's Prishotels/Prisons.

All part of the Crime Industry

I totally agree, let them know that they should be held responsible for their actions.

I agree with your recommendations Vernon. Full restitution, also with interest (a penalty) and a few lashes.

I am extremely frustrated with some taxi drivers. Their behavior is unacceptable and unprofessional. They are running a business, yet they treat passengers poorly. It is disturbing to see people being disrespected like this. Those who can't provide quality service should not be licensed to drive.
