Press Release From The Jamaica Labour Party - 20250209
MP Demands Answers From Mayor Swaby & says PNP President's Silence on Scandal is Unacceptable
West Rural St. Andrew Member of Parliament, the Jamaica Labour Party's Juliet Cuthbert-Flynn, says President Mark Golding's silence on the PNP/KSAMC Corruption Scandal is unacceptable.
Mrs. Cuthbert-Flynn says Golding must tell the country whether he intends to sanction his General Secretary, Dr. Dayton Campbell, who media reports have confirmed in response to an enquiry about the KSAMC's distribution of money to PNP operatives said it was being done strategically ahead of the calling of by-elections.
Mrs. Cuthbert-Flynn says the PNP President cannot escape telling Jamaica whether he intends to hold his General Secretary to account for the disturbing comment which was made in a leaked conversation in which he was conversing in December last year with then PNP Caretaker, Lawrence Rowe.
Mrs. Cuthert-Flynn says:
"The PNP President must tell Jamaica whether he was aware of this scheme which the Rowe/Campbell conversation appeared to clearly reference. A scheme where monies from the KSAMC were being distributed to PNP operatives, including unelected caretakers. Mark Golding's silence on this very seriously matter is unacceptable. He must indicate whether he has demanded answers from his General secretary, who was heard responding in his own voice to an enquiry about KSAMC money being used to assist PNP operatives. Golding must say whether he intends to hold Dr. Campbell accountable for the despicable manner in which he responded to Rowe."
Mrs. Cuthbert-Flynn says the PNP's lack of direct response to questions raised in the public domain about the scandal confirms that the Mark Golding-led party is operating with a high level of arrogance and contempt for the people of Jamaica.
Mrs. Cuthbert-Flynn says KSAMC Chairman, Andrew Swaby, has questions to answer about the multi-million dollar PNP KSAMC/Corruption scandal.
"Specifically, Mayor Swaby must tell Jamaica whether he is aware of monthly cheque disbursements amounting to millions of dollars which the KSAMC has reportedly been making to a well known PNP operative in West Rural St. Andrew. The Mayor must state why are these cheques being disbursed and for what work done and did he authorise the arrangement? If Mayor Swaby cannot within 24 hours provide a credible explanation for the reported arrangement he must step aside."
Mrs. Cuthbert-Flynn is urging the Major Organised Crime and Anti-Corruption Agency (MOCA) to leave no stone unturned as it interrogates issues which have arisen in the KSAMC/PNP Corruption Scandal.
