Breaking News and More - Jamaica House Press Conference

Today was a good news press conference for the government and the people of Jamaica. We have become so accustomed to these Jamaica House press conferences and the announcements of states of emergency that it is welcome news that crime, and specifically murders, is trending down.

US Travel Advisor on Jamaica Revised

At the press conference, it was reported that the US government has upgraded the Jamaica Travel Advisory to level 2. The Prime Minister is clearly elated at this development, since this improved level can have a positive impact on tourist arrivals.

Murder Rate Down Significantly!

The Deputy Prime Minister, Dr. Horace Chang, says that as of today, the murder rate is 43% less than last year. It is the lowest rate since 1991.

Major Findings of Firearms

The Deputy PM said 233 firearms were confiscated at the port. This was a major success. Various agencies worked together in Jamaica, supported by external forces. The question is, was someone about to start a local war in Jamaica? These calibre guns were definitely not brought here to shoot birds.

Level of Planning

The deputy PM says that the drop in crime has to do with the level of planning and the additional resources given to the police. The question is, can we sustain this for the next five, ten and even fifty years? I am sure the critics will ask for that crime plan. Was it hidden?

Police Killings

The Commissioner of Police gave an excellent response to the concern about the increase in police killings.

Editor's Note

I have written to the company that hosts the Bark Di Trute website explaining that my supporters are not comfortable with how they are being forced to view the advertisement. I have blocked advertisements that I believe are inappropriate for this site.

It is costly for the company to host the site and costly for me to maintain it. My supporters are not willing to give financial support. Only about four people have made a contribution over the past three years. It takes many hours and late nights to maintain this site. There is the cost for video, audio, anti-virus programme, Microsoft Suite of programmes, and others. There are also Internet, telephone, and other costs.

Let's hope we can continue to provide this service for the people and give the people a chance to express themselves.

  1. The leader should call the date sooner rather than later...jamaica is at a critical juncture....jamaicans must choose and it is much more than a choice between a decendant of former slave masters and one emerge from the ranks of field slave

  2. While this Government have done some good, the bad can't be overlooked, my issue is that even if crime goes down to zero and our economy recovers above expectations the question is what about the values and attitude of our people, we have a society that is decaying, rules of decency and order need to be implemented, under this Government they open the gates of immoral hell so in public spaces be it banks or offices men pants at their angle women in panties, young men going school hair unkempt the list goes on and on SMH.

  6. That's a serious concern! 233 firearms is a significant haul, and it's clear that the authorities are taking gun trafficking seriously. The collaboration between agencies and external forces is a great example of effective law enforcement. The question remains: who's behind this smuggling operation, and what were their intentions? The fact that these guns aren't for hunting birds is a stark reality check. Let's hope the investigation sheds more light and brings those responsible to justice.

  7. Did the government finally figure out how to reduce crime in an election year? Of course the methodology for counting murders and homicides is important! The police have so far this year, killed close to double the number of alleged criminals they killed all of last year! One has to wonder if any of the police killings can be classified as homicides!
While it is welcome news that crime is trending downwards, we must be concerned about the increase in the number of persons killed by the security forces! It's evident the police were given commands to take no prisoners! This is dangerous, as many innocent citizens can be caught in the mΓͺlΓ©e and their reputations damaged permanently!

  9. They are just getting serious about crime in Jamaica πŸ‡―πŸ‡². If the PM and the Commission of The JDF & JCF had gotten the Religious Leaders involved and even some of clean community members and bring in violence producers and let us do a lineup inspection, from behind the glass. Without nobody knows exactly what is going on

  10. Crime would have come down a long time ago. Remember that High Power Guns πŸ”« are still in the hands ✋️ of these organize gangster's. Them just put them up until them can use them at a later date πŸ“…. We need to get the Guns πŸ”« out of the hands ✋️ of the criminal and πŸƒ‍♂️, please use all the technologies that are in the JDF & the JCF to get back our beloved country to where crime is no more. Then our senior citizens will be very happy to come back home 🏑 and truly retire in style. Honestly them deserve it. Keep up the great work to the entire security force and the government and public and private organizations. Thanks so much for your continued supportπŸ‘. Keep up the great work πŸ‘!
