Release From The Jamaica Labour Party, May 18, 2025:
The Central Executive of the Jamaica Labour Party was advised during its meeting on May 18, 2025 that both Delano Seiveright and Christian Tavares-Finson have formally withdrawn their application to be selected as the Party's candidate for North Central St. Andrew to allow for a resetting of the process of finalizing a candidate.
The withdrawal follows a review by the Party.
The withdrawal will allow the Party Secretariat to conduct a consultation with key stakeholders, including the Executive and Workers of North Central St. Andrew in the coming weeks as it restarts the process of finalising a candidate within the rules of the Party.
The Central Executive accepted the decision of Mr. Tavares-Finson and Senator Seiveright and noted that both are valued members of the Party.
Both Senator Seiveright and Mr. Tavares-Finson further committed to having their supporters respect the Party's rules and regulations and to act in the interest of Party unity.
North Central St. Andrew is represented in the House of Representatives by the Honourable Karl Samuda. Mr. Samuda remains Chairman of the constituency during the process of finalising a candidate.

Among politicians in this country there are 2 who no party leader should 2nd guess or vehemently oppose.
ReplyDeleteMike Henry and Karl Samuda. They are what I would call politicians politicians they are masters of the Jamaica political art form.
Will someone do a book or manual to document how to be a forever winner.
These two men I admire as fearless and unafraid of supporting and defending their constituents who always come first.
They are powerful can win on their own independently without any party backing.
Anyone planning to go into political representation need to study among others these two man.
Br Mike is smoothe polite and genuinely focused on the business of his constituents always approachable, available and concerned.
If Br Mike says who it should be his successor in a Joel Williams.
it will be come hell or high water.
If Karl Samuda says with the backing of his delegates Delano Seivright I have no doubt it will be just that Argument done he earned it.
Don't know much about Mr. Mike Henry or his constituency in Clarendon, but as for NC St. Andrew where I lived for decades but have never seen MP Samuda.
DeleteHowever, in the streets his style and culture of politics wreaks with the stench and craft of tribal politics of the 70's & 80's and has more to do winning elections by driving fear into the electorate. We need a change to decency and respect for all.
