Three candidates contested the 2025 JTA President-Elect Election held June 16 - 20, 2025. They were:
- LaSonja Harrison, Principal St Faiths Primary, St Catherine
- Dr Maureen Mullings Nelson, Lecturer at the Mico University College, Kingston
- Mr Jermaine Williams, Teacher at the Mannings High, Westmoreland
A total of 11,610 votes were cast in the election, which was held using the Face - to - Face modality. Each candidate received votes as follows:
- LaSonja Harrison – 6651 votes.
- Dr Maureen Mullings Nelson – 1883.
- Mr Jermaine Williams - 2771.
Mrs. Harrison, having secured the highest number of votes in the preliminary count, is hereby declared President-Elect Designate.
The winner will be officially proclaimed at the 61st Annual Conference scheduled for August 18–20, 2025, at the Princess Grand Hotel, Hanover.

ReplyDelete....it confirms in my mind as to why this once noble profession is the laughing stock of the country....the over collection of dregs in one place will become stagnant and putridputrid....the overpopulation of one gender and special interest sects have caught up with the jta
So glad I'm retired. I have no tolerance for boorish behaviourand this person seems to wear that shoe. Same view I have of politicians. Leaders have no class these days. Pure hype
