When I heard this matey business on the radio being discussed by an MP from the JLP a few months ago, I said to myself, "How low can one get?" To have another MP from the PNP on the campaign trail with this matey argument is another low level we have descended to again. If I were in politics, I would certainly disassociate myself from such low-level, base, crass, and crude comments coming from the platform of the party that I am a part of.
The Jamaican electorate is far more sophisticated and is certainly not enamoured by such comments. The only place such comments should go is in the toilet bowl.
I hope to God that there is no market for that type of rhetoric in this country, or else we are seeing the end of the end.
Jamaica, let us reject the nastiness! Dr. Dayton Campbell should reflect on the various statements he has been making on the political scene. He needs to do some introspection.

Soon, parliament will be known as the house of gossipers.
Those who read this blog, do not waste your time putting any party colours on me. No need to gossip about me. Since you like to fas' eena people's business, you can call me and ask me which party I am supporting. I would only be concerned if you say I am a member of a gang or a group that is involved in antisocial behaviour.

Agree with you butbremember Parliamentarians areva reflection of the society from which they come a largely gossipological society where gossipology has become an art, science, norm, value and ideology.
ReplyDeleteSocialism is dead gossipism is alive and well face it
Is that it so what's thevreal impact on democracy and governance.
This has to be studied.
And the gossiping is everywhere...in the home, schools, work places, entertainment and don't think that it is not in the churches...
Deletea deh so the gossiping deh. The entire world is messed up with knowing people's business. America is leading in that section with its president at the realm. Nastiness to the cure.
The PNP men are some ugly women clothed in men's attire. Sick of the raucus brawling behavior. They would trace right in the ground.
DeletePoliticians are reflective of the society but we need to call them to a higher standard. I have serious concerns about the moral compass for the likes of Everald Warmington, Dr. Dayton Campbell, George Wright and Izat Buchanan.
ReplyDeleteWhat they actually doing is feeding the population with what it appears to love hype ova substance we as a society wr have lost our moral compass we rather quantity over quality for me what am looking for in this election campaigning is like going to get a mortgage to build a house so you need a build of quantity and time-line all the promises that they are making I want to know over what period of time that will be done and the cost to it because at the end of the day it surely gonna affect me one way or another am jot into the stand up comedy election I want substance I have my 2 children growing up I want to know what kind of society am helping to prepare for them .
