A reader said that the communication was poor before and after Hurricane Melissa. Bark The Trute alerted the nation on October 18 about the possibility of a hurricane hitting Jamaica. Bark Di Trute also indicated the type of destruction we could have on the South Coast. Many read the blogs, but they did not heed the warnings. Others did not have access to the blog.
In the future, Bark Di Trute will keep you informed about potential disasters. We ask our readers to help us identify such disasters. We know that the earthquake can come without warning! Once again, we encourage the relevant institutions to make use of the WhatsApp Emergency Alert System, set up by Bark Di Trute and other journalists. The Emergency Alert System allows the JCF, ODPEM, the Meteorological Office, and the Fire Brigade to have immediate access to all media houses in Jamaica. If there is an earthquake which could cause a tsunami, this would require immediate information being sent to the media houses, and this could be broadcast immediately to the whole country. Any delay could spell disaster.
When you visit the blog site on your phone, switch to web view, and you will find a link called Hurricane Tracker at the top right of the page. It is an excellent site to monitor. You can also access Bark Di Trute on your computer, which gives you more access to other features.
