Last weekend was rough on me. I just did not have much energy to do anything. My blood tests are showing new things, and therefore, my operation is still on hold. The heart specialist, the nephrologists, and others have to do what they have to do before the operation.
With my challenges, those things that I can control, I do my best to control them, and I am doing a good job of controlling them. Once I used to weigh 230 lbs, and now my weight fluctuates between 170 and 175 lbs. We all should monitor and control what we eat.
If all goes well, the doctor is looking at operating on me in January or February 2026. Let me remind all men to check the status of their prostate. What you don't know can kill you.
The cost of these tests and treatment is mind-blowing. Tablets can cost you over JAD 50,000 per month. The cost of biopsy, MRI, ultrasounds, and blood tests, and the cost to see the specialists can wipe out your little assets.
I continue to go on because of the wonderful support from people, some of whom I don't even know. Some of these people monitor me daily.
With all the challenges we have in Jamaica, we do have some beautiful people around. Today I dragged myself to the tax office to get the lien removed from my car. I sat beside this beautiful lady, and we started to talk about personal and national things. I borrowed her pen to complete a form with information that I am certain the tax office already has on record.
I got up from beside her to ask one of the tax clerks a question. By the time I turned around, my seat was gone. I said to the lady who took my seat, "You capture mi seat!"
She jumped up immediately from the seat and told me to take her seat. I smiled and looked at her and said, "No, ma'am, I cannot take the lady's seat."
She gave me one commanding look and told me to take the seat. I sat down in the seat. I wondered if she picked up on something and felt that I needed to sit down.
I continued to engage the lady who was sitting beside me. She attended Ruseas High School. You can see that she was properly brought up.
My number was called, so I went to the tax clerk to transact my business. I complained about the form, which I had to fill out with information which they are supposed to have on their records. The tax clerk was very understanding.
I then went to another tax clerk to pay my motor vehicle registration fee and fitness fee.
Today was indeed a wonderful day. I met some beautiful people, and the customer service at the Constant Spring Tax office was good.
The department just needs to improve the level of computerization to eliminate unnecessary work.
Look out for those beautiful people. There are a few around still. They brought tears of joy to me.
