Minister of Finance and the Public Service, Hon. Fayval Williams, on Tuesday (December 2), tabled the Third Supplementary Estimates for fiscal year 2025/26 in the House of Representatives.

The revised Estimates of Expenditure shows the budgetary allocation moving from $1,270,538,106 to $1,376,876,935, representing an increase of approximately $106 million.

In her remarks, Mrs. Williams noted that in addition to the normal operations of government for which supplementary provisions are made, the Third Supplementary Estimates include $29.3 billion (US$142 million) allocated for Hurricane Melissa response and relief efforts.

“The Ministry of Economic Growth and Infrastructure Development will receive the largest share of $7.2 billion for road infrastructure and procurement of 3,300 containerised folding units of housing,” she stated.

The Ministry of Local Government and Community Development has been allocated $4.6 billion to support post‑hurricane relief efforts, finance the National Solid Waste Management Authority’s pre‑ and post‑hurricane clean-up operations, and provide assistance to municipal corporations.

The Ministry of Tourism will receive $3.4 billion to support recovery of the tourism sector.

“The Ministry of Water, Environment and Climate Change is being allocated $3.2 billion to continue the restoration work of the water and sewerage network. The Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Mining will also be allocated $3 billion for relief and recovery within the agriculture and fisheries sector,” Mrs. Williams said.

Additionally, the Ministry of Energy, Transport and Telecommunications has been allocated $1.5 billion.

“Alongside those Melissa-induced spending is the Government’s own spending to keep government going,” Minister Williams said.

The Public Administration and Appropriations Committee (PAAC) of Parliament will convene Wednesday (December 3) to examine the revised Estimates of Expenditure.
