Are We Converting Manor Park Into A Slum?

Residents from across the island continue to call on the relevant authorities to ensure that their living environment is one where they can be free of certain hazards and that the value of their properties is not negatively impacted.

We have seen what neglect has caused in front of the University Hospital of the West Indies. Let us stop talking about how much we pay our leaders and tell them that we pay you well, so you must perform.

I just got another report of the fast-deteriorating state of Grosvenor Terrace in Manor Park, Kingston. That was once a beautiful neighbourhood, which we should have tried to replicate across the city. We want to turn it into a slum?

Residents on Grosvenor Terrace sent me the following message:

The entrance to Grosvenor Terrace at Manor Park is now a hazard. The commercial activity at 1 Grosvenor Terrace poses an issue with the entrance and exit from the road as vehicles connected to that entity park on both sides of the entrance to the road, causing a big problem. Next to that property, which for years has carried on commercial activity, is 3 Grosvenor Terrace, which is now being used as a bus Garage

At the back of the land is a restaurant and bar being operated. This is very unsightly and is also causing a big traffic hazard in what was a quiet residential area. This mess at the entrance is causing this neighbourhood to be unattractive to purchasers and is lowering the real estate values in what was a very peaceful  area for the residents, many of whom have lived there for most of their lives

5 Grosvenor Terrace (an undeveloped lot) has also, we understand, been leased out to be used as a commercial entity. This will further severely make this road a very uncomfortable area to live in if this is allowed to continue.

Something must be done quickly to save the taxpayers of this area before it is too late.

The entire area of Manor Park needs to be upgraded and beautified to make it more appealing and hospitable for the residents of the area.

My friend, Mayor Swaby, we need to take action now, sir. You must leave your office as mayor with this city looking better than when you took office.

Councillor Senior is responsible for this area, I believe. Please push some fire for change, ma'am. I know MP Seiveright cannot be proud of how things are looking, and I expect him to also push for some fire.

Editor's Note

Crime does not only include things like fraud, assault, and murder. One ignored crime will lead to another.

They are now fixing Water Works Road. Thanks to the people for their support, and thanks to MP Delano Seiveright.

Please share this post with all Manor Park residents.
