Breaking Health Related News

The Following Report Is From A Bark Di Trute Supporter

There is a drug combination for HIV-positive persons and persons with AIDS, which is usually available via the Ministry of Health and Wellness and the National Health FundThe drug combination is called atazanavir/ritonavir

For about 6 weeks now, persons living with HIV and AIDS (PLWHA) have been told that the drug is in short supply. All the government pharmacies are currently out of stock. The NHF (Drug Serv) pharmacies islandwide are out of stock.

UHWI Pharmacy has a few, but they can only dispense to persons who have a UHWI written prescription.

The situation is very serious. Persons who have become “undetectable” on this combination will have to be switched to another combination, which may fail, or which may limit the options they can use in the future (you really should switch from one combination when the current one you’re using has begun to fail).

You’re not going to be able to “revisit” a combination once you come off it, since your virus will possibly develop resistance to the drug you stopped using.

Unfortunately, there has been no official statement about this situation from the government nor the NHF.

There was something said previously about them depleting the stock of Atazanavir/ritonavir, to force patients to switch to tenofovir/Lamivudine/Dolutegravir combination.

There is concern about ALL the other antiretrovirals since they basically all come from India.

Abacavir/Lamivudine is not as popular, but it is also running low.
