Irie FM is in a major dispute with Ms Beverly Davis, a former veteran employee of the company. This dispute has been going on for many years with no end in sight. The matter has to do with Ms Davis having to leave the company due to an environmental hazard at the Irie FM office, which she claimed affected her health severely. She had to see the company doctor at the time. Miss Davis would be entitled to pay relating to having to leave the job, damages for the effect on her health and also other employment benefits.
The Minister of Labour and Social Security's intervention was sought, and the matter is now being dealt with by senior officers at the ministry.
The claim runs into millions of dollars, which could put the station in further trouble if it is not settled at the level of the ministry.
Workers are reminded that they should be aware of their working environment, which could affect their health. If the work environment is affecting your health, then inform the company, see your doctor, and also report the matter to the Ministry of Labour and Social Security.
