Some Businesses Need To Lose Their Licenses

I received another complaint from a customer who is dissatisfied with the service provided by EssentialSolar. This business is located at Shop 12, Premier Plaza, Kingston. When you purchase solar equipment for approximately JAD306,000, only to be told that the warranty only lasts 30 days.

A good businessman who sells a product and learns of a problem from the moment it was purchased should be happy to replace the product to maintain good customer service.

If businesses are not delivering quality service and there are many complaints from consumers, then the state should have the power to terminate the license of that business.

We now have two hot cases, and we need to resolve them quickly. There is the case of the new 2026 JETOUR T2 motor vehicle bought from Tyre Warehouse Ltd., located at 1 Mannings Hill Road in Kingston, and the solar equipment bought from EssentialSolar is located at Shop 12, Premier Plaza in Kingston. The Ministry of Industry, Investment, and Commerce (MIIC) needs to investigate, especially new businesses set up in the country, to see if the operators are competent to operate these businesses and if these imported items meet our local and international standards.

It is always best to buy from well-known, reputable stores where the warranty period is not short. Note also that there are several complaints across the world about JETOUR T2 vehicle.

In the meantime, the Consumer Affairs Commission is dealing with these cases. The consumers might have to ask that the matter be referred to the CAC Tribunal. I would recommend that the business people take back the purchased items and give a full refund. If they don't, then this will have a serious impact on the business. This could lead to the eventual closure of the businesses.

It is very important to let Bark Di Trute know when you don't get good customer service so the public can be informed.

  1. Well said Mr. Derby.
Jamaicans are being violated by these unscrupulous businessespeople without redress.
Once they essebtially steal, they are quick to engage in personal attacks and just made up "company policies they never communicated in the beginning.
The government must stop these violations.
Commerce can never be more importabt than people.

Those Jetour vehicles look really good but I am old school.
Toyota,Nissan,Ford ,Suzuki, Subaru none ever failed me family, friends, or colleagues yet.
I stick with the good I know or hear about.
