Shooting At The Corner of Washington Boulevard and Molynes Road?

Accident scene.

I received a report that multiple shots were fired at a car at the intersection of Molynes Road and Washington Boulevard in Kingston. Based on what I saw in the video, a man has been seriously injured or he is dead.

The police have not sent us any information, and therefore this incident has not been confirmed by the police. Motorists have sent me pictures of the scene. We have to thank the instant police officers who were on the scene providing information to the public. It is a pity that when the real police come to the crime scene, crucial evidence might have been tampered with.

You should avoid that area now because there could be a challenge traversing the area.

Confused By The Language and The Protocol?

The Speaker

The people of my country are amazing. We no longer do what we were supposed to do. We always end up with someone who 'would have done' something. The question is, if someone would have done it, then who did it? 

This must be very confusing for our children and people like myself because we no longer know what is correct. Top officials in the Education and Information Ministry, heads of academic institutions, and professionals have adopted this phrase, 'would have'. 

Can you imagine a dad sending his child to school, and when his child returns from school, he asks his child, "Did you learn anything at school today?"

The child replies, "Yes, Dad, I would have learned plenty of things today."

The father repeated emphatically, "Did you learn anything?"

The child repeated, "I would have Dad."

The frustrated dad said, "I guess you would have. When I went to school, I learned English; now they teach the children Hinglish. The dad then said, "When is your next examination?"

The child responded, "June 1st."

The dad looked at his child and said, "Are you sure?"

The child annoyingly replied, "The teacher would have told me exactly as I would have told you, Dad."

The dad said, "I thought the date of your first examination would be June 1."

The child replied emphatically, "No, Dad. June 1st."

The child then asked her dad, "What was your day like, Dad?"

The dad said he went to a function, and after the chairman welcomed and mentioned all the officials, the minister rose and proceeded to speak. He said to the audience, "All protocols observed."

The dad looked at his child quizzically. The father rested his hand on the child's shoulder and said, "I am still in the dark as to which protocol the minister was referring to and who observed those protocols." The minister then referred to the PM as Dr The Most Honourable. I said to myself at that point, "The PM's major title is The Most Honourable.  Why is Dr. placed in front of the man's national title?"

The English language and these protocols can be very confusing. Can you imagine if the speaker had invited me to speak at the function and pronounced my name /derby/ instead of /darby/?

Gaza In Jamaica???

A citizen just sent me some pictures of Bond Street, which is in Western Kingston, Jamaica. If I had not been told where this place is, I would have believed it is the Gaza Strip. We all need to work together to improve the appearance of our capital. 

Let us create an inventory of the old and dilapidated buildings, and the authorities could use that inventory to identify the owners of these properties. If the owners are missing, then buildings that pose a danger to people should be demolished. The cost of doing so should be levied against the land. If owners cannot be located or identified over a specified period, then the government should acquire these assets and sell them. The development of these properties should conform with the development plans for the city. 

Thanks to the civic-minded person who brought the condition of Bond Street to Bark Di Trute. We should not just complain about the government and the KSAMC, we need to play our part in ensuring that the authorities take action.

The government should acquire these abandoned assets and earn needed revenue. If they don't take action, then the squatters will take over, and after 12 years they could apply to the courts for adverse possession. The capturing of prime lands in the capital city is probably happening already.

George Forman

George Foreman, world-famous boxer and two-time world heavyweight boxing champion, has died. The Olympic gold medalist will be remembered for his fight with boxing icon Muhammad Alli. This memorable fight was called 'Rumble in the Jungle'. Forman was 76.

In his later years, Forman became a businessman.
