Jamaican Abroad - His Love Fi Yaad, Big an' Broad
Contributed
Dear Mr. Derby,
I am writing in response to the letter published in your blog regarding the condition of the fencing along the Palisados main road.
Although I left Jamaica 55 years ago, my love for Jamaica remains unwavering. Over the years, I have returned frequently and have contributed significantly to its development by donating millions of dollars in scholarships to students, as well as providing new—not used—medical equipment to hospitals. This includes ultrasound machines, fetal monitors, ventilators, and various other life-saving devices. My commitment stems from a deep-seated desire to see Jamaica thrive.
However, it breaks my heart to witness the deteriorating state of public infrastructure. What is most disheartening is the apparent lack of regular maintenance. When things get broken, they simply remain in disrepair. Regular maintenance is just as vital as the initial construction of infrastructure. Without it, we allow the nation’s assets to fall into ruin.
To address this, I propose that the government establish a dedicated infrastructure repair fund. A specified percentage of the annual budget should be allocated to this fund to ensure ongoing maintenance and timely repairs of critical infrastructure.
The author of the letter rightly questioned whether the authorities in Jamaica are oblivious to the degradation and blight that visitors and returning Jamaicans plainly see. I have been asking the same question for years. How can our tourism minister promote Jamaica as a beautiful destination while its citizens and authorities allow its beauty to be eroded before our very eyes?
It is my hope that by raising awareness and urging action, we can inspire meaningful change and restore pride in our nation's public infrastructure.

Editor's note:
The writer not only continues to support his country but is one of those persons who supports the work that I do. He has contributed significantly to Jamaica. Thanks for your support, my brother.
The Prime Minister has commented on the maintenance of our infrastructure. Going forward, Jamaicans must support sound economic government policies and proper management of our economy. This will enable us to maintain the infrastructure. We must also monitor to see if the infrastructural work has been done properly and update Bark Di Trute by WhatsApp at (876) 816-5261.
It has taken many years for the infrastructure to end up in the deplorable state that it is in now. In the future, we need to fix a pothole on the road the moment it appears.

The Attorney General stated that “we are very happy with the consent order. Breaking News - Sean Kingston and His Mother Found Guilty
![]() |
Sean Kingston and his mother Janice Turner |
Sean Kingston and his mother, Janice Turner, were found guilty on all charges Friday evening in their luxury fraud scheme trial. Turner was taken into custody after the verdict. Prosecutors accused Kingston and Turner of orchestrating a scheme to obtain high-end items—including a luxury SUV, jewelry, expensive watches, and a wall-sized TV—without paying for them.
In May, the Broward Sheriff's Office raided Kingston's home in Southwest Ranches, Florida, as part of the investigation.
Sean Kingston is a Jamaican-American singer, songwriter, and musician, best known for his hit songs like "Beautiful Girls" (2007), "Fire Burning" (2009), and "Take You There" (2007). His music often blends reggae, pop, and R&B influences, and he gained fame with his laid-back, catchy style. Kingston was born on February 3, 1990, in Miami, Florida, but he grew up in Kingston, Jamaica. His breakthrough came with the release of "Beautiful Girls," which was a massive success worldwide and reached the top 10 in multiple countries.

Bark Di Trute Readers Speaking Out
Airport Road No Look Good!
A Bark Di Trute reader writes:
Good morning Mr. Derby, I hope all is well with you. I was coming from the airport and noticed that these barriers/fences have fallen apart. I once read that the difference between a first world country and a third world country is maintenance.
Who is responsible for this? Is there a better material that can be used that is more permanent? For an entrance to Kingston, the airport route all the way to stadium should sparkle. The look and feel of poverty strangles you once you hit Windward Road. All our ministers drive this route in their frequent travels. How are they not embarrassed? Thanks for your service Mr. Derby.
When Bad Man No Fraida Police
When you look at this video, you get an understanding of why some people lose their lives when dealing with the police. The video does not tell you the full story, but the behaviour and attitude of these men tell you what the police have to deal with daily.
This Is How We Fix Our Roads
Notice the comments made by the citizens, and you will understand why people have lost faith in the system. Jamaicans have lost faith in the National Wutless Agency (NWA) with Public Apologist Stephen Shaw and its invisible head, E.G. Hunter.
In the video, the citizen reports that the councillor said the material is finished. I did not know that councillors distributed material for fixing roads. Oh yes, they are quick to blame politicians. We are to be blamed also because we sit down and take the rubbish that these workers do.
If enough funds are not available to fix the roads, then let the people know and fix what can be fixed properly. They will understand.

Press Release From The Peoples National Party - Changes to Counties and Parishes (Amendment) Act 2025
PNP Press Release
Kingston, Jamaica: March 28, 2025. The recent court order requiring the Government to provide an unequivocal undertaking not to proceed with the implementation of the Counties and Parishes (Amendment) Act, 2025 until full compliance with Section 67 of the Constitution is a clear vindication of the People’s National Party’s position. The Court has affirmed what we have consistently maintained: the Government was attempting to move forward in blatant breach of the constitutional process.
This legal action, initiated by the PNP, was necessary to hold the Government accountable after it chose to ignore a letter dated June 18, 2024, sent to Parliament by the Electoral
Commission of Jamaica, which explicitly advised of this constitutional breach. The
Government’s disregard for both the Commission’s warning and the rule of law left us with no choice but to seek judicial intervention.
The fact that the Court has compelled the Government to give an undertaking—effectively halting their unlawful actions—demonstrates the seriousness of their disregard for due process. This victory is not just for the PNP but for every Jamaican who believes in justice, accountability, and the sanctity of our laws. We urge the Government to respect the Constitution and to adhere to the proper procedures in all matters of governance.
The PNP will continue to defend the rights of all Jamaicans and uphold the laws of the land as laid out by the Constitution.
