Pharmacist Sherray Banks-Bailey |
A Jamaican pharmacist working in Jamaica, said that this is indeed a ground breaking time for the profession, as pharmacists continue to offer their diverse skillsets in the fight against this pandemic.
Trend setter Sherray it is said, undertook her training to become a Certified Immunization Pharmacist in 2017, through the American Pharmacists Association (APhA). She is also currently serving on the Cayman Pharmacists' Association and the Caribbean Association of Pharmacists executive bodies.
If this has happened in the Caribbean then it seems to me that in Jamaica we need to look at the possibility of training pharmacists to administer the covid-19 vaccine. Pharmacists are all over the island and are strategically located to assist in getting this drug to as many persons as possible.

There are several Pharmacists residing in Jamaica that are trained immunizers. Currently awaiting legislative changes to allow us to practice in this capacity
