Street Lights Not Working Means Who Is Not Working?

Some Important Questions To Be Answered

Some Councillors in the St. Ann's Bay Municipality Council Meeting recently, were very vocal  about the number of street lights that are not working in the parish. It is clear that the residents are putting the councillors under pressure and that is the correct thing to do. The councillors have a duty now to put the JPS under pressure.

My first question is what action the council has taken to record when each street light stopped working? If a street light has not worked for nearly a year, has a request been made for a refund from the JPS for the period that the light has not worked?

I would also like to know if the council had sent a written report to the JPS identifying which street lights were not working and if the council got a response?

Did the councillors direct their CEO to meet with the JPS to deal with the matter?

Is It A Poor People Thing?

The statement by one councillor that only poor people who suffers when you have power cut  seems to be an unusual statement.

The councillor said, "Not every poor people is illegal as JPS want to have it look". If that is the position of JPS then that is a serious matter.

"Not every poor people can afford fridge guard", it is said. If you don't have a power guard then it means that you can afford to lose your refrigerator.

The councillors should also state why we allow the wrong cycle refrigerators to be imported in Jamaica. That could be one reason for some refrigerators going bad.
