Check These Pictures - A Murderer Could Be In Your Neighbourhood!

With over 90 persons killed so far this year in this small country of approximately 2.9 million, we are indeed in a crisis. Jamaica should be under a state of emergency and the security forces given wide powers to cauterize the mayhem that is now taking place. My heart bleeds for my country - Jamaica burns while our political leaders engage in political sparring.

These are not normal times and unusual strategies must be implemented NOW! The criminals are united and they have heavy fire power. If they unite and decide to challenge the state, they could in a matter of minutes overthrow the government of this country. This could be the beginning of lawlessness in the Caribbean. Those who are are in the guns for drugs trade or the guns for cash sale, could subsequently find Jamaica an ideal place where crime and corruption rise daily like the sun, rising above the hills.

Jamaica's crime problem was once the problem of the so call 'ghetto' areas, but it is now a national problem, which like a fast spreading cancer, is now taking over the whole country. We note that Haitians who are wanted by the police for allegedly committing certain crimes in that country, have been found in Jamaica. Last year January, a plane crashed landed on the south coast and many felt that it had just delivered a major drug cargo. We are yet to hear what has happened to the occupants of that airplane.

What Jamaica Needs

  • Jamaica now needs strong leaders who can be trusted. Leaders who do not support corruption nor crime. It is now urgent that laws be enacted with teeth to drive fear into those who challenge the state.
  • The country now needs a mandatory national identification system. This will form the basis of identifying all nationals and this will make it easier to identify criminals. Can you imagine we are looking for criminals and we are unaware of even the registered names for some of them.
  • We need social laws which will pave the way for appropriate socialization strategies to encourage the development of strong family units. We need to have a society where the child has a right to know his mother and his father.
  • There must be laws which clearly state the responsibilities of all parents and we should have penalties supported by education and appropriate socialization to ensure that persons have children that they can afford to maintain and educate.
  • The police must be given the authority to organized persons at the community level to assist them in the fight against crime.  These community persons should become a part of the Jamaica Reserve Community Police Corp. They should be trained and armed to protect their communities from these domestic terrorists.
  • Community courts should be set up now to deal with petty crimes in communities and this would free up the other courts to deal with major crimes. There should be a Court in every district/town and in the metropolitan areas the numbers should be increased depending on the population density of the various areas.
  • Any one caught with an illegal gun should be given life sentence at hard labour, The convict should be made to work and pay for his/her upkeep while being incarcerated.
  • The people of this country need to wake up and realize that they need to send a strong message to all criminals that they will not be welcomed in their communities.

The police must stand strong because they and their relatives are also falling victims to  these 'dutty criminals'.  While creating this post, a member of the Jamaica Constabulary Force informed me that there was a shooting on Salem Road in Montego Bay this Tuesday, and two of her uncles and a cousin were shot. The cousin died and one of her uncle is now in a critical state.  The family is unable to meet the medical costs for the injured relatives.

  5. This country needs either communism or straight dictatorship right now. Outside of that bring back death penalty or life imprisonment for murderers

  6. Everything starts from the home. Some of these people who are having children do not know proper discipline themselves so they can't instill it in their children. Everything goes for those children. There are some parents who if they were to see others enforcing proper training and discipline they criticize them not knowing that this is necessary for the proper upbringing. They don't have a clue so parents need training themselves. Outside of that this country will continue to have problems in relation to crimes etc.

  7. A state of emergency, use the way it is in this country make no sense, detaining persons for months not know who you are looking for is stupid,we can't endorse this type of crime fighting. I live in ghetto of August town and dame for example; if that community have five hundred members out of that number about 45-65 are violence producers and the state come and lock down the community and take in 250 young man, remember the 45-65 is not known by the state. The criminal leave b4 the community is lock down, you will ask how them know but they do. I was happen to hear the Don tell his member to lock all gun n all wanted man leave cause we a get lock down tomorrow morning and so said so done, who are we fighting when criminal know the state plans.
