Violet Edward |
Consul General Oliver Mair recognizing this awesome Jamaican |
Violet was born in in Kensington., Portland in Jamaica in 1925 and she went to to Happy Grove High School - she was the first high school graduate from her district
She joined the postal service and eventually became a Regional Inspector and retired from that post after which she moved to New York in the early 70s. I have been informed that she was the first female Regional Inspector then.. She started at College of New Rochelle in NYC and she eventually had to discontinue because the education of her daughter who is now a doctor was priority.
Violet went to Mercy College on line because this institution because the custodians of the of the New Rochelle records when that institution had closed
Violet Edwards now has one daughter a son In law and 2 grandchildren. The community now benefits from the work of her daughter Dr. Christine Edwards. She made the sacrifice for her daughter and now many are thankful for that sacrifice.

We should always remember the saying, Wha no dead, no dash wey! I hope to have her as my special guest during Talk Yu Talk on SpotOn aired on RIddim FM, next Monday, July 4 at 1020 hours Eastern Standard time.
Please share this post To The World of a Jamaican whose light must be shone internationally.
