MP Robert Montague |
The Jamaica Chess Association, provided trainers. The training took place at Tacky High School. The next workshop will be at the Oracabessa High School.
This is an excellent initiative, but it needs to be expanded. We need a full programme of organized activities for your youths which is based on achievements and rewards. We need a national youth programme for youngsters ages 14 to say 25. These activities should be aimed at developing the civic pride, the willingness to be my brothers keeper, working as a team, and developing good social skills which can help them to become productive citizens of Jamaica and the world.
That is a great idea continue the good work mp
ReplyDeleteThis is a very good move. The next step would be to build in parks, concrete benches and tables with chess boards inlaid on the tables. It raises the level of interest in the sport for persons of all ages. Players walk with their own timers as they advance in the sport.
ReplyDeleteChess boards can be inlaid in tables at any waiting area. Our artisans can build Chess pieces which become as readily available as playing cards and dominoes.
ReplyDeleteContests between schools, communities and Parishes to follow to select a national champion. Ian Wilkinson QC can be a big help in such a move. Well done Mr Montague.
