This brings me to the George Wright story which journalists and others continue to talk about. Let us be blunt, it will not go away only because it is more about politrics, rather than ridding the society of the scourge of abuse. Many who are claiming that they are concerned about the abuse of women are not really serious. They do not seem to understand. that abuse is abuse - whether it happens to men women or children. I have brought cases of abuse to the public's attention and to our leaders at the highest level in this country, and there has not even been a whisper of concern. Some of my readers will be familiar with the case of that child who was left looked up in a car which I posted on Facebook years ago:
- The first post in 2018 of the child left locked up in a car Red Hills Road.
- The second post of child left locked up in a car and there has been no action taken against the offender.
Spousal abuse I understand is very common in Jamaica but the nation is not up in arms about it. Young girls are being abused sexually and abused physically and I understand that the boys are now facing similar challenges.
People are still clamoring for George Wright to speak out and I am still the lone voice asking for our leaders to do something about that child who was left locked up in that car at Lee's Supermarket car park on Red Hills Road. Persons are asking for George Wright to speak up, but I am almost sure that his lawyer told him to keep his mouth shut. Do we expect the man to convict himself? Another challenge is if he had abused someone and that persons refused to press charges then there would be no case. I believe that what we saw was a fight between two persons. The nation condemned the man because it is assumed that it is a politician, yet we have not condemned the woman in the video.
What is interesting, is that there are stories of other political leaders, church leaders, media personalities and other well known Jamaicans who have abused their spouses, yet the nation is silent on those matters. Jackass say di worl no lebel.

O Mr Derby u are so right and it's seems as if abuse is the Thing now a days no one care especially when it come when it happens to children for most of the time is close friend and family member do that wicked act . Talking from experience thinking about it hurts .But as u say something has to..done about it getting out of hand .I think the Government should have strictly rules people get away with too much things in the country.Any how thanks u Sir continue the good work.God bless you.
Many politicians beat their spouses but is George Wright them have strength for. Them must pick the beam out of their eye before looking at others.
This is a society that has no respect for our children, the elderly, and women. They are subjected to physical, mental, and emotional abuse by those who know they can get away with it because we are society ingrained in minding our own business.
But they have strength for George Wright because he is a politician and political inroads can be made by highlighting a behaviour attributed to him from a blurred video.
