The high level of crime in Trinidad is of major concern to the people and the political directorate there. Due to the crisis in that country, persons grabbed on to the fake news out of Trinidad, that Prime Minister Keith Rowley had fired Fitzgerald Hinds as Minister of National Security.
Trinidad is set to have record murders for 2022. Report from Trinidad is that approximately 559 persons have been murdered so far for this year. I am monitoring the situation to see if Trinidad will be implementing new measure to deal with the crisis it is facing. The feeling in some quarters is that the government is clueless. It is being said that persons close to the political directorate are paying gangsters to keep the peace.
Erla Harewood-Christopher was acting as Commissioner of Police for McDonald Jacob, but McDonald Jacob is now back as the Acting Commissioner of Police. He succeeded Commissioner Gary Griffith who was removed from that post. Let us think of our brothers and sisters in Trinidad as they go through a similar situations to what we are going through here in Jamaica.

We as island need to coordinate our efforts and deal with this murder spree before we reach a Haitian situation
Yes it needs to be controlled
Yes, we need to curtail the incidence of murder in our society. We need a safer society to raise our families and work.
