What's Happening on SpotOn May 19, 2023

Helen Davies-Whyte

Our special guest on Friday, May 19, will be Helene Davis-Whyte, head of the Trade Union Confederation. The former Prime Minister of Jamaica had declared that let we put labour into labour day. Since then we have had various themes for Labour Day and the highlight of labour day is now a big concert in Emancipation Park. The average Jamaican has no idea as to why we started celebrating labour day.

Many workers have little or no idea of the role that trade unions have played in the development of Jamaica, its political system and the recognition of our workers.

Robert Buckle US citizen from Trelawny

Robert Buckle a member of the popular Buckle family in Trelawny will join me during Talk Yu Talk and gives me his perspective as to what is happening in Jamaica. It will be interesting to hear the perspective of a Jamaican living overseas.

Gabrielle Gilpin Hudson

Gabrielle Gilpin Hudson will be my guest for Real Estate Matters. Gabrielle is a very experienced lawyer and a realtor who is based in Montego Bay.

To be honest; I have not really take the time out to research Labor Day. However; raising the pay for parliamentarian and the little man that is not working or out pensioners still have to be finding the money 💰 to pay JPS & Water 💦 Commission. Honestly; them no ready for such a high pay increase. Too many things need to be fixed.
