Police Hugging Up Public Information?

I just got information from a usually reliable source about another shooting in Manchester. This time, it is in Christiana. The officer who answered the phone at the police station in Christiana was unwilling to give me any information. The officer told me that another caller was on the line. She then hung up the phone. The police call on citizens to tell what they know, yet they refuse to give information so that we can help them.

I told the officer that the longer they take to disseminate relevant information, the more social media will run with incorrect information.

There should be no secret when a crime is committed. I agree that details which might compromise the investigations should not be given out. I got information that several persons were shot in Allman Town last night. I have been unable to get any information about this matter.
