The following are some of the things initiated by this tireless Jamaican diplomat:
- Jamaica Citizenship Welcome Ceremony “Back to my Roots” to recognize newly minted nationals confirmed for Jamaican citizenship.
- Reggae Strong Concert supporting Jamaica’s rich culture and heritage during Reggae Month (February) and providing scholarships to the University of the West Indies, and the Edna Manley College for the Performing Arts. He continues to support our culture and heritage through the Blue Mountain Coffee Day, tours by Jamaican outstanding culture groups including ASHE; the National Dance Theater Company (NDTC); National Heroes’ Modernized Programme and the annual Rootz Foundation ‘Marcus Garvey Legacy Expo’.
- The annual Jamaica Hi-5 5K Run/Walk and health and wellness initiative has created a weekly health regimen for the Diaspora to promote and encourage healthy lifestyles. With proven success, the funds generated so far, from the annual 5K Run/Walk have adopted five (5) clinics in rural Jamaica under the Adopt-A-Clinic (AAC) Initiative of the Health Ministry.
- Commissioned the Anti-Trafficking Committee “Reduce the Numbers” officially launched in March 2022. This committee has continued to provide assistance to the Consulate raising awareness for the prevention of human trafficking among nationals of the Jamaican Diaspora and assisting governmental and non-governmental agencies with its mission to combat human tracking activities.
- Successfully directed the Consulate General’s relief campaign to support some 2,500 Jamaican nationals stranded as a result of the border closure during the COVID-19 pandemic. Provision was made in the areas of housing accommodation, feeding programmes, medical support, and mental and emotional support.
