Social media is an extraordinary tool that still eludes the understanding of many. As Artificial Intelligence (AI)continues to advance, we are merely scratching the surface of its potential. I find myself perplexed by its intricacies, but I'm committed to conducting research and grasping its full scope.
It is astonishing how our generation, particularly those aged 60 and above, often overlook the profound impact of social media. Many remain attached to outdated notions and hesitate to leverage their power to address pertinent issues in our world. This is where platforms like TikTok captivate me—especially given the preference for visual content among younger demographics who may be less inclined to engage with traditional written material.
On social media, individuals flock to your page for various reasons. Some may know you, seeking to align themselves with your perceived influence. Others may share a common background, such as attending the same school. Then some simply seek to satisfy their curiosity about your life. However, it is disheartening when accepting friend requests yields little engagement or meaningful conversation. Some seem content with merely’ liking ‘posts, while their profiles remain barren. Is this reflective of their offline lives, or a deliberate stance on privacy? It's a complicated question
Social media is an avenue for crafting narratives from seemingly mundane activities. There's always a story to tell, and my son often marvels at the constant stream of excitement I seem to encounter, even without stepping foot outside. Indeed, my life is a testament to the vibrancy that social media can offer.
Social media is the new way of writing your own stories, your own book. The tales you share will echo through generations, while the pictures you capture speak volumes. Let them be the legacy for your unborn generations to come. Open up your mind to a whole NEW WORLD PEOPLE....

ReplyDeleteJamaicans in the age group 60 and over, will be left behind, as simple as that. Just like the 70 and over are totally lost to social media. But the banks and utility companies will sort them out because they are insisting that they get wth the times and no doubt making life very difficult for them.
ReplyDeleteIt is not technology's undoing of the aging. It is a result of an inability to shift mindsets coupled with inadequate opportunities to learn at their own pace.
ReplyDeleteHere is a social experiment tha could add value and cause two way intergenerational sharing......Could we set up free classes, operated by young people who transfer the knowledge? I believe we need to find intentional ways to include all parts of society in the wave of the future so that no one is left behind.
