The following message is being circulated on social media about an aircraft which veered off the NMA runway Thursday night, June 6, 2024:
BREAKING NEWS!! American Airlines Flt 850 from Miami reportedly veered off the runway while landing at the Norman Manley International Airport a few hours ago. The airport was experiencing heavy rain at that time. We don’t have any information on passengers and if they received any injuries. The airplane received damage to the engines, landing lights etc. This is a developing story and we’ll keep you updated.
It is confirmed that this incident happened but an official release has not been sent out as yet. Once again let me remind the authorities that when we have an incident like this and we take a long time to advise the public, social media will take off with fake information.

This let me afraid to travel
Yesterday I observed an Ambulance with blaring sireen trying to negotiate the crawling two way traffic heading up along Arthur Wint Drv (during the All important football match, which we won) all vehicles stopped at one point instead of drifting left or right, a Police Officer tried his best to help and left, however, the emergency service unit bullied it way through to get to its destination. I am not saying that the drivers should ride the side walk which can damage their vehicle altho, some with higher under carriage did which help to ease congession. My suggesting is this, since a Hospital, Police Station and several public place of interest is on that corridor, the powers of the day should see to it that the road be widen to accommodate the emergence vehicles, that corridor is too narrow for the vehicle to pass, there are enough side walk space for that to happened. My though bless
