Report From A Bark Di Trute Supporter

Good morning Vernon,

Happy and blessed Sunday.  I need help  There's no law and order in this country, and too many people know the right people, allowing them to do whatever they want without anyone holding them accountable. Imagine this: a brown vehicle has been sitting on this property for years. Last year, I spoke to the owner (who does not own property here). He promised to move it by July 2023. When I approached him in July, he pushed the date to January 2024. Now, we're nearing the end of July 2024, and still, nothing has been done. I asked someone to move it to the sidewalk, and the owner threatened to report it to the police. This individual has no title proving ownership of any property in the complex.

Additionally, my tenant on the first floor asked if he could keep a container temporarily until a welder came to do some work. The work is done, but the container remains, and he is now using the parking lot for business. I gave him two months, which ends on August 14. Another container is owned by a property owner who is encroaching on the road around the buildings, claiming it's on his property. I didn't invest in this place to have it look like a junkyard.

We seem to be okay with disorder. This reminds me of the clamour for beach access, which incidentally I support. On the other, we are so nasty and disorderly. Take a look at Hellshire Beach. Access needs to come at a cost that would then be used to help keep the beach clean. We can't be trusted to do what we need do in our own self interest.

It is not clear it is a strata property. If it is a Strata property, the Strata Committe can take the Proprietor in breach to the Commission of Strata Properties. There is no need for a lengthy negotiation with a tenant. A non-conforming tenant needs to be served notice and dragged before the court if he or she fails to leave. Good grief, explore your rights under the law, and do not be afraid to excise them. These people will run down your property to nothing while making other residents and owners uncomfortable in the process.
