Jamaicans were full of expectations to see us getting a Gold Medal in the 100 metres but that was not to be. The Gold was clinched by the Americans. It was so close that it was almost impossible for the naked eye to ascertain who was the winner at the 2024 Olympics 100 metres for men. Noah Lyles was the winner!
This afternoon the excitement in the usually sleepy village of Mitchell Town reached record levels. Heading the gathering was MP Pearnel Charles Jr. and Councillor Winston Maragh.

Congratulations you made us proud we did want the gold but that's life
Congratulations to Kissane Thompson, your parents, and the citizens of Mitchell Town, Clarendon, for winning silver in the 100 meters at the Paris Olympics! Although you did not win gold, in the hearts of all Jamaicans, your silver is just as precious as gold. Moreover, this 100 meters will go down in history as one of the most exciting and memorable in Olympics history. As such, you will be inextricably linked with greatness. You are a young man, and you have a wonderful future ahead of you.
