Disturbed Weather Across the Western Caribbean

An area of disturbed weather associated with a broad area of low pressure across the western Caribbean is producing moderate to strong thunderstorm activity. This area that is located southwest of Jamaica could develop into a tropical cyclone by the middle of next week and is expected to slowly move to the north or northwest.

Consequently, the forecast is for periods of showers and thunderstorms, which may be heavy at times, to affect sections of most parishes, especially southern and north-western parishes, from late Saturday night through to Wednesday. Strong gusty winds are also expected across Jamaica during this period, especially across southern parishes and offshore marine areas. 

Fishers and other marine interests should exercise caution as sea conditions will deteriorate in the vicinity of showers, thunderstorms, and strong gusty winds.
