Challenge at St. James High
Hon. Fayval Williams - Minister of Education, and Youth |
St. James High students have done well under the leadership of Principal Joseph Williams, but there is a major rift between the Board Chairman and the Principal. It is clear that there are irreconcilable differences between Principal Joseph Williams and Board Chairman Christopher McCurdy, otherwise known as Chopper John.
The Minister of Education cannot allow the situation to continue, and I recommend that a new board be appointed. Failure to act now could result in the school going back to the days when school was always out and gangs and violence dominated the school community.

The administration did not renew a teacher's contract due to unsatisfactory performance levels. The teacher took the matter to the Board Chairman, which seemed to have created more tension in the school. Minister Fayval must act NOW or else St. James will move from a passing school to a failing school. Failure to act could come across as if the Ministry is afraid to touch certain matters.
Weather
There is another disturbance area in the Atlantic Ocean, Disturbance 3. There is a 50% chance it will develop further within seven days. Disturbance Invest 92L stands a 70% chance of within the next seven days to develop further. Jamaican like the rest of the Caribbean has to monitor these two disturbances. Invest 92 L has winds of 45 Km/H and is located at 15°18'N, 42°11'W which is about 1800 Km from the Eastern Caribbean.
Congratulations Joan and Reginald
Congratulations to Reginald and Joan Turner on their wedding anniversary last Saturday. Joan has been a strong supporter of my radio programme for several years. She's a very loving and caring person.
