People in Japan are moving to safer areas.

Tsunami warnings have been issued for multiple nations across the Pacific as well as Hawaii and the US Pacific coasts. An 8.8 magnitude quake struck off Russia’s sparsely populated far eastern coast. 

10-foot tsunami waves are possible for some coasts of the Northern Hawaiian Islands. Persons in coastal areas have been urged to evacuate.

Approximately 2 million people in Japan are also being asked to vacate their homes. People living in South and Central America have also been issued tsunami warnings.
