Happy days at NNN. Vernon Derby and Professor Verene Shepherd |
You will recall the post I did about a media house facing certain challenges. It is now confirmed that Nationwide News Network will be moving from Bradley Avenue. Word on the street is that it will be moving to the Digicel Building Downtown.
Dushyant Savadia, founder and chief executive officer of the Amber Group, could be playing a greater role in the Nationwide Wide News Network.
Persons in the media sector have commented on how the other shareholders in NNN have been silent. Questions have been asked about the Captain Burrell dependents who might be beneficiaries of shares he had in the station.
Interesting days are ahead in the media industry. There could be less emphasis on media houses broadcasting via radio frequency and more on the Internet.
We are still not certain as to when radio will go digital in Jamaica. Now that radio is available on our phones, one wonders if digital radio is still on the table.
Time to hear from the Broadcasting Commission.

NNN has been truly a revolution in media. I hope they can continue to be a part of the media landscape in Jamaica.
