There was an earthquake in Nicaragua of 4.85 on the Richter scale. This happened today at 0657 DST. That is not far from us, and I don't believe that we are fully prepared for an earthquake at this time.
- What happens if any of the dams are damaged?
- Do we have first responders in the various communities to assist?
- Do we have enough beds in our hospitals to take care of the injured?
- Can we inform the nation in time if there is a tsunami?
- Are our communities and organizations prepared?
One thing is certain, and that is if we have a serious earthquake and any damage similar to the damage caused by Mellisa, we will need the support of our friends up north again - the United States of America. Only they have the type of equipment nearby to assist if there is major damage.
