I received a few videos showing a massive fire at Up Park Camp tonight. The JPS power was also out for over four hours in some areas. I wonder if this was connected to the fire or to the little rain that fell last night!
If there was indeed a massive fire at Up Park Camp and we have not heard a word from the Jamaica Fire Brigade Service, then something is very wrong. I understand that the JDF sent out a press release, but Bark Di Trute has not received that release. Probably that's why people have to depend on other sources on social media to get news. The Jamaica Fire Brigade service should give an on-the-spot press conference. I don't think they even have a public relations department.
Traditional media could have played a key role by having live reporting from the scene of the fire. Probably a station did. You can let me know.
We need an in-depth investigation of that fire at Up Park Camp and also the failure of the JPSCo system. We also need to look at how we communicate with the public when there is a disaster. We should learn a lot from last night's experience. A fire at the JDF is big news, and so is a JPSco lack of its service for over four hours.
I wonder how we will handle other crises. I hope no life has been lost at Up Park Camp and no ammunition has been lost.
While I was composing this blog, the JPSCo service went out at 11:35 pm, and it came back at 1:27 am. This means that JPSCo was out for over four hours in some areas. It seems that Digicel's data service is also down. Pupa Jesus, teck di case. We need to keep the nation abreast in real time of what is happening, or else this is the time when conspiracy theories develop.
I just remember the days of the Tilly lamp or the Home Sweet Home lamp, and we did not have any light challenges then. These modern times are really madern. Someone called me to say that they are wondering if JPSCo ran out of fuel. Soon, you will hear that the US aircraft carrier that visited us recently had something to do with all of this.
Hopefully, Prime Minister Holness will address the nation later on these matters. Some people will have to spend the morning writing reports, which will be submitted to the prime minister.
What to do but make up a song in the darkness—Michael Spence

I am wondering if we have been sabbatage? This power outages is becoming very frequent, not just Friday night alone, I am living in Old Harbour and this week, the power went three times. And it happens the week before. I'm wondering 🤔.
ReplyDeleteMy light went from about 9pm and returned about 2:30am. The house was so hot that water was running from my body like river. I wonder how we survived without electricity back in the days. It was not so hot then, anyway. What a life! JPS, we need answers
ReplyDeleteParts of St. Elizabeth has been without light and as a result water goes too very often and worse for extended periods, this happens frequently!
ReplyDeleteWe were without light for 5 hours. 9 pm - 2:20 am. Didn't bother me personally but there is concern for those who have emergency needs and work requirements. Hush for those whose entertainment had to be curtailed. Other than that...gwaan ah oonu bed. 😆😆
ReplyDeleteYes, somebody suggested the ship had something to do with the Camp fire. I find it funny. "Operation take Jamaica and Cuba" they said. 😁 My conspiracy theory brain is not so agile.
