G2K BLASTS PNP'S TREND OF PARLIAMENTARY LAWLESSNESS

Press Release From G2K - November 4, 2026

Kimone Roper - G2K President.

Generation 2000 (G2K), strongly condemns the unacceptable and disorderly conduct displayed yesterday in the House of Representatives by People’s National Party (PNP) Member of Parliament for Manchester North Western, Mikhail Phillips.

Yesterday’s proceedings descended into chaos as PNP Member of Parliament Mikhail Phillips engaged in a heated verbal and almost physical altercation, setting a terrible example for Jamaicans at home, across the diaspora, and especially for the next generation of leadership. This latest outburst is not an isolated incident but the culmination of a deeply concerning trend where the PNP has consistently broken standing orders and refused to abide by the rules of the House.

G2K wishes to make it categorically clear that the subsequent apology offered by MP Phillips was disingenuous and non-factual. Video evidence from the parliamentary broadcast clearly validates the report made by Deputy House Leader Robert Morgan. The footage proves that Minister Morgan was accurate in his account of the events, meaning he has absolutely nothing to apologise for or withdraw. MP Phillips’s attempt to distort the facts while under pressure further underscores a lack of accountability.

Furthermore, the physical pushing of the Leader of the Opposition and the aggressive verbal assault directed at Member of Parliament and Cabinet Minister Desmond McKenzie are completely unacceptable. This marks the second time during this current parliamentary sitting that a PNP member has launched a verbal assault against Minister McKenzie, following a similar incident and subsequent apology by another PNP Member of Parliament, Dr. Alfred Dawes earlier this year.

This violent pattern of behaviour has become deeply worrying for young Jamaicans. The persistent erosion of parliamentary decorum, coupled with flagrant disregard for the Speaker and the standing orders, signals a complete breakdown of leadership and accountability within the PNP.

We are also aware that another PNP member of Parliament, Mr. Anthony Hylton, during yesterday's sitting, used expletives during his presentation. The use of unparliamentary language is completely unacceptable and shows the complete disregard that the Opposition Members have for the thousands of Jamaicans and impressionable children who tune in to parliament. The PNP Chairperson and Member of Parliament for South West St. Andrew, Dr. Angela Brown Burke was also seen on video shoving the Speaker of the House as she left the chamber.

Parliament should be a sanctuary for robust debate and policy formulation, not an arena for intimidation and thuggery. G2K calls on the leadership of the PNP to rein in its members and demands that MP Phillips offer a full, factual, and unreserved apology to the House and the Jamaican people for his disgraceful conduct.

  2. Why doesn't the G2K blast the Speaker of the House for her unloading like behavior, and that's putting it nicely.
