Thanks To NWC

St Mary Country Club

When our utility companies do not perform we blast them therefore when the workers perform and make their organization looks good, we must commend them. Thanks to my supporter from St. Mary who sent in a message giving thanks for getting back their water supply in her area. Thanks to the NWC and especially Ann Bolt at the NWC who has a habit of answering my messages at odd hours. She understand that water is life so she puts her life into it. Thanks to Ann for going the extra mile and to the other workers who ensure the people had water.

Message from the supporter:

Good morning Mr Derby. Attyia Bennett here. I am happy to report that piped water has returned to St Mary Country Club.

Residents closer to the main road including me received water on Saturday afternoon whilst those further in received their's on Sunday night.

Thanks for saying thanks Attyia.

The KSAMC Seems To Be on the Right Track - Other Councils Should Follow.

 KSAMC Cleaning Up The City

The KSAMC is on a drive to clean up the city - what a thing! Mayor Swaby cannot do it alone while we mess up the city. I am sure he and Mr Audley Gordon the head of the NSWMA are in the same camp for A Cleaner Kingston. You must join the move.

The KSAMC’s ongoing cleanup activities, which have begun in downtown Kingston, are not geared towards damaging, hurting or otherwise affecting the livelihood of the vendors and other stakeholders, but serve as a deliberate attempt to restore law and order, to maintain a clean and sanitary environment, and to promote a thriving business environment the KSAMC says.

The cleanup exercises will enhance the appearance of our surroundings and encourage civic pride. The KSAMC is encouraging vendors, business operators, shoppers and residents, to play their part and work together to achieve a cleaner Kingston. I believe these vendors should leave the roads for pedestrians to walk on, and vehicular traffic to drive on. The argument about the KSAMC 'a fight down poor people', will not hold water.

The KSAMC is asking people to report illegal activities or unprofessional behaviour by emailing these complaints to ksacmediacentre@gmail.com.

Town Hall Meeting

Recently the KSAMC had a Town Hall meeting and residents heard from the Mayor and other members of the council. Persons were able to ask questions. The KSAMC has started on the right foot, and other councils across Jamaica should follow the lead. Listen to Mayor Swaby addressing the Town Hall Meeting.

Next Monthly Meeting

On Tuesday, November 12, at 10:00 am at the council's monthly meeting, the Mayor plans to make some announcements. I will be unable to attend but I am anxious to hear what the Mayor has to say.

JPS Completes Restoration of Customers Affected by Tropical Storm Rafael

Press Release From The Jamaica Public Service - 20241109

(Kingston – Saturday, November 9, 2024 / 4:00pm) JPS has now completed restoration of power to customers who were impacted by outages caused by Tropical Storm Rafael.

JPS President & CEO, Hugh Grant, has announced that all parishes were fully restored as at 3:00pm today, with only one business customer in Port Esquivel, St Catherine, still without service due to access challenges caused by swampy terrain.  The company is working to relocate the line supplying this facility in order to restore service to the customer as soon as possible.

“I am very happy that we were able to restore our customers ahead of the tight timeline we set for ourselves, and without any safety incident,” the JPS CEO indicated. “I am particularly encouraged by the improvements in our stakeholder engagement and outreach during this restoration process. We were able to work closely with the Ministry of Energy, the Office of Utilities Regulation (OUR), various municipalities, Members of Parliament and other community representatives, who were able to share information to help us execute on our restoration strategy safely and quickly. I really want to thank our customers for their patience over these past few days, as we are very mindful of the inconvenience caused by loss of power,” Grant said.

The JPS CEO advised that the company had deactivated its Incident Command center, and returned to normal operations. “Under our regular operations, we will continue to respond to customer reports and outages unrelated to Tropical Storm Rafael. We continue to build on the lessons learnt during major weather events, and our teams stand ready to serve our customers even better than before,” he said.

JPS is reminding customers to make safety a priority at all times. Reports can be made to JPS using the MyJPS Mobile App, its social media channels @myjpsonline or by calling 888-225-5577 / 888-CALL JPS.
